The Situation

Marcus Johnson had been running Johnson's Plumbing Co. for eight years. The business was solid — good reputation, repeat customers, steady referrals. But growth had plateaued. He was turning down work some months and scrambling the next.

The underlying problem was simple: when someone's pipe burst at 10pm and they Googled "emergency plumber Austin," Marcus wasn't showing up. His website was from 2016, didn't work on mobile, and wasn't ranking for anything.

He knew he needed to do something about it. He just didn't know where to start.

What We Built

A new website in 18 days. We rebuilt Johnson's Plumbing from scratch — mobile-first, fast-loading, with clear service pages for emergency plumbing, water heater installation, drain cleaning, and pipe repair. Every page was optimized around the searches his customers were actually making.

Google Ads targeting emergency and high-intent searches. We launched campaigns targeting "emergency plumber Austin," "plumber near me," "water heater replacement Austin," and a dozen related terms. We used exact and phrase match keywords with an aggressive negative list so his budget wasn't wasted on job seekers or DIY searches.

An AI lead follow-up system. Every time someone filled out the contact form on the new site, our AI system sent a text and email response within 4 minutes — even at 2am. It introduced Marcus by name, confirmed it had received their request, and asked a qualifying question to get the conversation started before Marcus even knew the lead came in.

The Results

In the first 30 days, the new site went live and ads started running. Marcus got 31 inbound calls from new customers — more than triple his previous month.

By month three, he was consistently getting 55–65 new customer inquiries per month. His cost per new customer acquisition settled at $41, well below the $180+ industry average he'd heard about.

The AI follow-up system made a bigger difference than he expected. "I was losing jobs I didn't even know I was losing," he said. "Now I know every lead gets a response in minutes, even when I'm under a sink."

What's Next

Marcus is now considering hiring a second crew to handle the volume. We're building out his Google Business Profile review strategy and exploring Local Services Ads to add another lead channel on top of the existing campaigns.
